Full-time students can complete the program in as little as nine months, and graduates leave prepared to sit for the state exam and enter a rewarding barbering career.

Turn Passion Into Professionalism

Develop Confidence as You Learn How to Be a Barber

Our barbering curriculum builds on your natural creativity and introduces new skills in a structured, supportive environment. From precision cuts and fades to shaving, facial hair design, and chemical services, you’ll develop the technical range that today’s clients and employers expect.

You’ll take that classroom knowledge directly into our student salon, where you’ll work on real clients under the close supervision of licensed instructors. This hands-on experience is central to how we teach, building both your technique and the professional confidence that sets great barbers apart.

Beyond the chair, ESI prepares you for the business side of a barbering career. Our curriculum includes salon business training, financial literacy, and job placement support, so you graduate ready not just to work, but to build a career, manage a clientele, and eventually run a business of your own. ESI meets state, national, and international requirements, so you’ll be fully prepared to sit for your state board exam and enter the industry with confidence.

Marisa Costigan

I am really glad I took the laser class offered at The Elaine Sterling Institute. Elaine’s school is very nice & professional. Tony Stanfill is an excellent instructor and she is very thorough in teaching laser safety and education. I thought there was plenty of hands on experience with the different lasers. After taking the class, I got offered a position at a dermatology practice.

Elaine, it was my pleasure to get to know you and have you as my mentor during my time as your student during my introduction to esthetics. Without your expertise and approval I may not have had the confidence I needed to face such a major career change. Thank you so much!
