Types of Federal Financial Aid

Federal Pell Grant

A grant is an award of federal financial aid that does not require repayment by the recipient. The Pell Grant is an entitlement program, and the recipient will receive the grant if qualification is met. The amount of the award is based on the U.S. Department of Education’s determination of the student’s need. Federal Pell Grants are usually awarded only to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor’s, graduate, or professional degree.

Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans

Subsidized and unsubsidized loans are federal student loans for eligible students to help cover the cost of higher education at a four-year college or university, community college, or trade, career, or technical school. The U.S. Department of Education offers eligible students at participating schools Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans. Subsidized loans are based on need, and the government will pay the interest while you are at school. Unsubsidized loans are not need-based, and interest accrues as soon as the money is disbursed. All loans must be repaid.

Parent PLUS Loan

This type of loan is for the parents of a child enrolling in an eligible undergraduate school. It could help the parents pay for their child’s school expenses, and it is based on financial need. Repayment begins immediately after the loan is fully disbursed. This type of loan could be combined with other types of financial aid. Applicants for the PLUS loan are subject to a credit check.

Payment Plans

Our school offers payment plans for students who elect not to participate in federal programs or are ineligible to receive money from federal programs. These students are required to pay the tuition in full on the first day of class or on a scheduled payment plan. Students may pay the full amount of the tuition by cash, check, or credit card. When you pay the entire tuition within the first week of school, there is no interest charged.

For students who choose to pay monthly payments, a flat monthly fee will be charged in addition to tuition.

Tuition must be paid in full by the end of the scheduled graduation date, and all payments are due on the 5th of every month. The first payment is due on or before the first day of class, regardless of the monthly payment due date. Late fees of $20.00 are assessed for payments received after the 10th of each month. Students are responsible for making timely payments and may be dismissed from the program if the scheduled payment is more than 30 days late.

I have really enjoyed Ms. Gina's online class! She is an awesome teacher and breaks down the material for comprehensive and does not overwhelm.

I am really glad I took the laser class offered at The Elaine Sterling Institute. Elaine’s school is very nice & professional. Tony Stanfill is an excellent instructor and she is very thorough in teaching laser safety and education. I thought there was plenty of hands on experience with the different lasers. After taking the class, I got offered a position at a dermatology practice.

Elaine, it was my pleasure to get to know you and have you as my mentor during my time as your student during my introduction to esthetics. Without your expertise and approval I may not have had the confidence I needed to face such a major career change. Thank you so much!
